Masdar City is the world’s first zero-carbon city enterprise, based in Abu Dhabi. It is one of the world’s most sustainable developments and is home to the International Renewable Energy Agency. 

A selection of Hadley Steel Framing profiles have been used by the development team in a number of structural projects across the region including the Etihad Eco-Residence. Hadley SFS forms part of the structure’s airtight building envelope. Together with the project’s partners, this structural work has resulted in a 63% reduction in total energy consumption, when compared to the Estidama PBRS baseline.

The Etihad Eco-Residence went on to win the Green Residential Building award at the Emirates Green Building Council (EmiratesGBC) Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Green Building Awards 2018.

There is a significant saving in Main Contractor Time Related Preliminaries when using The Hadley Steel Frame compared to traditional blockwork. The magnitude of this potential cost saving is largely driven by a shorter overall construction duration.
